CHAPTER 6 THE CHRONICLES OF LISA
Ok, so I had a very different life prior to hoe’n. Hoe’n wasn’t even on my resume…
Summer 1991
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I grew up poor in a single parent household with very little money. My father died when I was young which threw my mother in a state of depression. This caused her to have, and go through bipolar mood swings at times. My mother received a check each month for her condition.
The lack of a strong male role model and father figure caused me to run wild and take to the streets at an early age. I was seventeen going on twenty with the way I was living and the type of shit I was doing. I was in the fast lane of life. Out of control doing 120 with no breaks. I lost my virginity when I was 13 playing “Spin The Bottle” and “Truth or Dare” at a ditch party when I was in Junior High. I fell in with the wrong crowd early on in my youth. I was white but always felt like I had more in common with the blacks. I listened to the same music, hated rock and liked the way the blacks carried themselves with style. And six months after I lost my virginity and slept with my first black, like they say, I never went back.
At school I was the token white girl that hung with all the blacks. This is how I discovered a lot of game. I looked like your average ditzy blonde white girl, but I talked and conducted myself like a bitch with IZM. On the weekends, I would go to this hip hop club called ‘The Jump Off.’ It was 21 and up but I always got in with my fake ID. Yeah that’s right, fake ID. I had one ever since I was sixteen. The Jump Off is where I met my boyfriend, JayDee. He was twenty-two and a baller. He had Ohio sold up. Whatever you needed he had it and if he didn’t, he knew where ta get it.
I couldn’t believe he chose me to be his girl. When we first met, I lied about my age and told him I was eighteen. Two weeks later, he discovered my real age after calling my house one day. Mom answered the phone. Wondering why this grown sounding man was asking to speak to her 17 year old daughter. She said,
“Are you aware that Lisa is only seventeen?”
“Yes, ma’am.” He lied.
“And how old are you, if you don’t mind me asking.”
“Not at all. I’m eighteen. I’ll be nineteen in two months.” He lied again. “Sorry but you sounded older.”
“Not a problem, ma’am. I understand.”
“Let me get her. Can you hold on for a second please?” My mother
yelled for me to pick up the phone from downstairs.
“Hello. I got it ma, you can hang up.” Mother hung up the phone, then
I continued to speak. “Hello.”
“Wuss up? How you doin?”
“Alright, who’s this?”
“Jay Dee silly.
